Our primary goal remains focused on providing a safe and healthy environment for all who attend and work at Saint John’s Catholic Prep. We believe that our best efforts to remain a healthy community will be the result of a strong partnership and effective communication between your home and school.
Mary Beth O’Boyle, our school Certified Medication Technician and Health and Wellness Coordinator will continue to be your main contact regarding any health-related questions or concerns. She works in conjunction with an off-site delegating registered nurse. Please do not hesitate to contact her for any health questions or concerns at moboyle@1491dawnhill.com.
Please be sure to complete the Confidential Health Information Form in Blackbaud, before the start of school each year, so that we are informed of any medical conditions or pertinent medical history or medications. Include all supporting documentation for asthma/allergy management, diabetes management and/or medication authorizations.
If your student is exhibiting symptoms of any infectious illness and specifically symptoms consistent with Covid: cough, fever, headache, sore throat, difficulty breathing, diarrhea or vomiting, or new loss of taste or smell, PLEASE KEEP THEM AT HOME and test for Covid or have them see a healthcare professional for an alternate diagnosis.
If your student is sent home not feeling well and the symptoms are consistent with Covid, please test and report the results to Mrs. O’Boyle. Home test kits are available at the school and can be dispensed for home use.
If your student tests positive for Covid, please notify the school. At this time, the CDC no longer recommends universal contact tracing but families are encouraged to notify those individuals who may have been in close contact.
Positive cases will be reported to parents/guardians if there are 3 or more cases in a classroom, extracurricular group or team activity.
We will do our best to assist any student who is absent for illness, emergencies, quarantines, etc. but it will not consist of a virtual school option.
Staying up to date on routine vaccinations is essential to prevent illness from many different infections. For Covid-19, vaccination is the leading public health strategy, per health authorities, to prevent severe disease.
Vaccination against Covid-19 remains a family decision and is not required by SJCP.
COVID PROTOCOL:
Students who test positive for Covid-19 are required to quarantine for at least 5 days, returning on Day 6 if symptoms have resolved and if the student has been fever free for 24 hours. Masks are strongly encouraged from Day 6 through Day 10.
Students identified as a close contact to a Covid-19 positive individual are not required to quarantine, however, testing is strongly encouraged 3-5 days after last known exposure. Masking is also strongly encouraged until a negative test result is obtained.
